Dancing is more than just a passion for Jenni Tan. For her, it is life itself. Beginning from the tender age of 10, Jenni felt a calling to the symphony of body and music. She decided the best way to follow her destiny was to learn the art of ballet. In the next 10 years of Jenni’s life, she devoted her entire being to mastering the subject. She absorbed the graceful movements into her soul until she was a mistress of ballet and continued to pursue greater heights of artistic expression in the field. She formed her own distinct style characterized by precision in movement and enthusiastic personality in artistic expression.
In 2005, she joined the Akjun Ballet Theater Company to perform in Albany and New York City, USA. However, things changed in 2005 when she discovered ‘Salsa’, a sensual South American couple dance that has blazed a sizzling trail around the world and into Malaysia. Her solid foundation in ballet made it effortlessly easy for her to become an expert in salsa. The shift from ballet to salsa was the right move. Jenni blossomed into a winning phenomenon which triumphed in two competitions consecutively in the year 2005. Since then, Jenni started performing at many events and commercial features including the 1st Malaysia Salsa Festival, 1st Malaysia Salsa Congress, DAPAT Promotional TV advertisements, Macho TV advertisements and the Europa Awards 2007. Her outstanding credits leads her to become one of the dancer cum choreographer in a professional Latin dance team in Malaysia, The Bailanismo. Her long time passion has made her an entrepreneur and in mid 2008 she decided to establish New Star Studio. She enjoy teaching and now she perform with her own team, The New Star Studio Performance Team. Her other achievements include instructing numerous salsa workshops in Malaysia and overseas, organizing salsa parties and choreographing salsa events and she is the only Malaysian who was invited to compete at the prestigious Australian Salsa Classic 2007 to the entry point of the World Salsa Championship. |
